We're fundraising for Tearfund in Ironman NZ ( Taupo) and Rangitoto Islands ‘The Dual’ off-road triathlon.
I'm taking up the Tearfund Poverty Cycle challenge to help combat human trafficking and exploitation, joining a team of people to travel (to walk/cycle/run) the distance of the slavery route from Nepal to Kolkata, India. A total of about 867km's. They estimate that there are around 4.8 million people in forced commercial sexual exploitation around the world - let alone the amount in forced labour!
I’m participating in 2 events in March - the Ironman in Taupo on the 2nd, then a shorter off-road triathlon ‘The Dual’, March 23 on Motutapu & Rangitoto islands. The total swim/cycle /run distance for the Ironman is 226kms (3.8k swim, 180km cycle, 42.2km run) and The Dual is 37kms ( 1k swim, 26k mountain bike, 10k trail run). Of course, my training to date in the last 5 months has already been at least 4x the Ironman distance (that’s over 1000 kms).
Please help me spread the word - and please donate! Every dollar donated goes to Tearfund's "Protect" cause, which partners with organisations around the world to combat this exploitation.
